Community Led Schemes (CLS)

  • New textured surfacing and dropped kerbs on the pavement either side of the crossing to make the crossing point clearer and more accessible.
  • New double yellow lines to prevent parking around the junction and crossing point.
  • Updated road marking to make the crossing point and navigation clearer.

Pears Road pedestrian improvements

The Pears Road pedestrian improvement scheme was complete in September 2023 and included the provision of tactile paving at side road junctions, construction of a new domestic crossover at the access to the Christian Community Church and removal of obstructions on the footway. This has improved the pedestrian environment, particularly those with mobility issues, impaired visibility and the elderly.

Sanders Lane, Hounslow

As part of the Sanders Lane CLS scheme, the Council adopted Sanders Lane onto the highway network and is undertaking significant improvements to the footway and carriageway.

Works include:

  • Carriageway resurfacing
  • Footway resurfacing
  • Localised drainage improvements
  • Installing lighting to improve road and pedestrian safety
  • Planting 8 new trees whilst also maintaining existing trees

The works are set to be completed by end of October.

Wellington Road South, Hounslow

As part of the Wellington Road South CLS scheme, the Council is proposing to undertake improvements along Wellington Road South from its extents of Staines Road to Hanworth Road. Given the limited carriageway width and parking arrangement, the H28 bus service, refuse and delivery vehicles can have difficulty manoeuvring along Wellington Road South. The current restrictions on Wellington Road South has ‘no waiting at any time’ (double yellow lines), which is to be improved by converting to ‘no stopping at any time’ (double red line) restrictions. Parking bays will be provided near local shops to support these businesses.

Proposed works include:

  • Red route clearway ‘no stopping at any time’ for the extent of Wellington Road South. Wellington Road South is an extremely narrow carriageway which cannot accommodate parking whilst also providing clear route.
  • Loading bays to be proposed on neighbouring roads to provide help for residents and businesses
  • Existing bus cages have been reviewed and several bus cages are being relocated to improve visibility and provide sufficient space for pedestrians on wider parts of footway.
  • Footway upgrades at proposed bus cage locations
  • St Heliers Avenue junction with Wellington Road South is proposed to be closed. This allow for a bus shelter to be installed near Heathland School and the Jamia Masjid and Islamic Centre. In order to close St Helier Road at its junction with Wellington Road, St Heliers Avenue would need to be converted from one-way to two-way traffic allowing traffic to enter and exit St Heliers Avenue from Hanworth Road.

Wellington Road South consultation to go live end of October 2023. Proposals shown below:
