Council grants, funding and commissioning

Your Neighbourhood Grant

  • The Your Neighbourhood Grant supports the work undertaken by Councillors with the residents and communities living and working in their wards.
  • This funding is available for Councillors who have identified a need in their local community through community engagement activities and by working in partnership with local residents.
  • The initial funding applications must come from Councillors.
  • Applications should focus on providing a lasting legacy to the community through projects that improve the neighbourhood, as well as small scale capital projects.

      For example:

  • Physical improvements to an area - such as improvements to War Memorials, sites of historic interest or the installation of new benches or planters.
  • Improvements to community infrastructure, such as new resources for Community Centres or Youth Clubs, which may include new chairs, tables or sports equipment.
  • Activities which involve people improving the local environment, such as community litter picks or community planting events.
  • Community art installations or exhibitions, such as arts projects which involve people coming together to produce an artwork for display in their local community.

Applications for activities which do not provide a legacy to the community will not be considered through this grant, but might be appropriate for funding through the Thriving Communities Small Grant scheme.
