Localism and community rights
The Localism Act 2011 introduced new initiatives and rights for local community groups to help them have a greater say on local matters.
These include matters relating to how local council services are delivered and what happens to local land and buildings that play an important role in local communities.
Two of these initiatives are the Community Right to Challenge and Assets of Community Value (also known as the Community Right to Bid). These are described in further detail on these pages, including details of how you can make use of these new rights.
