Help to pay for those who need it

Our Council Tax support scheme 

We know that some residents will be concerned about rising bills, so our Council Tax Support Scheme is available to help those on lower incomes, benefits or who have other circumstances which might make it difficult for them to meet the costs. Those who are eligible for the scheme can receive discounts of up to 100%.  

The Council has reviewed the scheme this year to make it fairer and easier to work out the support available for qualifying households. The proposed changes to the scheme will be discussed at a meeting of the Borough Council on Tuesday, 1 March and details of how to apply will be published here at the beginning of March. 

Rebates to help with energy costs 

In February the government announced a £150 rebate for people whose homes are in council tax bands A to D, as well as discretionary help for people in higher bands who are on low incomes. 

This means most households in Hounslow will qualify for the rebate. All households in Bands A-D will receive a leaflet with their Council Tax bill with more details about the scheme.
