The YSEG Careers Cluster is a programme led by the London Borough of Hounslow 14-19 Service in partnership with Spark (The Hounslow Education Business Partnership). The programme supports secondary schools in Hounslow to improve Careers Education for young people.
Our goal is to help young individuals become aware of the various job and career opportunities available now and in the future. By engaging directly with local employers, they can understand the significance of their education and be inspired to acquire new employability skills. This will enable them to transition smoothly into the workforce as adults.
The programme is open to all Hounslow Secondary Schools, Special Schools, West Thames College and Alternative Provision.
Who we support
- Young people (11-18) attending a Hounslow school that signs up to be part of the YSEG Careers Cluster
- Businesses and volunteers wishing to support young people in Hounslow
What we offer
- Opportunities to engage business volunteers within the curriculum, making them more relevant to the world of work
- Opportunities for young people to engage directly with businesses and their employees at school (such as during career fairs, enterprise days, mentoring, and virtual work experiences) and on-site (like work placements and industry insight visits).
- Targeted support for young people identified as disadvantaged and often underrepresented in employment data (for example, those with special educational needs and disabilities, care experience, eligible for pupil premium, or free school meals).
- Activities to improve teachers, parents and carers understanding of the local labour market, enabling them to support their children's decision-making at key transition points
- Assistance for Senior Leaders and Careers Leaders in schools to develop sustainable, employer-endorsed career strategies and the ability to establish and nurture relationships with local businesses.
