Harvard Hill
Harvard Hill was previously being used as a cut through for traffic accessing the A4, with traffic volumes on Fauconberg Road, Gordon Road and Harvard Hill well beyond those of neighbouring streets. In peak time hours, 85% of traffic on Harvard Hill was exiting onto the A4. Of this traffic, four in every five vehicles originated from outside the immediate residential area (bounded by the railway line and Sutton Court Road).
To remove this traffic, a trial closure from Harvard Hill onto the A4 was introduced. An independent review of the traffic data and consultation responses received during the trial period was undertaken, which informed the decision to make this measure permanent.
