Staveley Road diagonal road closure
Staveley Road used to have traffic volumes of over 5,500 vehicles on the average weekday, with just under 500 vehicles using it in the busiest hour during the week and a high proportion of these using it as a cut through.
In response to this, a trial diagonal closure on Staveley Road was introduced to reduce the levels of through traffic in the area. The measure prevented traffic heading east/west along Staveley Road and north/south along Park Road. An independent review of the traffic data and consultation responses received during the trial period was undertaken, which informed the decision to make this measure permanent.
