Children of all ages need fostering, from babies to teenagers and young parents. Some may be children on their own and others may be with brothers and sisters who need to stay together.

Our children come from all backgrounds and some may have special requirements. For example, they may have particular dietary, cultural or religious needs. Some children may have learning difficulties or other special needs. Despite their circumstances, foster children are no different from other children; they want and need the same experiences as others their age. Our foster carers bring warmth, stability and continuity of care to these children's lives.

There are different types of fostering to suit different types of children including:

  • Short term fostering - for children of all ages who may return to their parents within a few days, months or longer
  • Long term fostering - provides a permanent home for a child or children until they are ready to live independently and take care of themselves
  • Parent and child fostering - to help young parents who need support and guidance in caring for their new baby
  • Respite fostering - for short, regular planned stays so families under stress can have a break
  • Emergency fostering – providing a safe, temporary home until plans for their long-term care are established
  • Teenage fostering - for teenagers who need a home until they are ready to live independently.
