Who can foster?
To be considered as a foster carer you don’t need to have previous experience of working with children or have children of your own.
You need to:
- be aged over 21
- have a spare room, if fostering children aged over two
- live or work within reasonable distance of Hounslow borough
- be able to take children to and from school where necessary
- be able to take children to and from contact with their family
- be able to take a child to health appointments
- be able to meet a child’s educational needs
- be in good health
- speak, read and write English
- have indefinite leave to remain in the UK
- British citizenship is not required, but it is expected that you would be a legal, full time resident of the UK
- be passionate about making a real difference to a child/young person’s life.
Hounslow foster carers can be:
- from any cultural or religious background
- single, married or living with a partner
- heterosexual or LGBT+
- persons with disabilities
- living in rented, owned or council property
- a parent or someone who has experience of caring for children.
