Phase 2: Feltham town centre improvement scheme
Scheme overview
Phase 2 of the Feltham town centre improvement scheme has focused on improving the appearance of High Street, Victoria Road/Mono Lane, Bedfont Lane and Bedfont Lane/New Road between Sandycombe Road and the railway station. The changes enhance these streets for everyone that uses them, making the town centre a better place to live, work and shop.
The improvements in High Street, Victoria Road/Mono Lane and Bedfont Lane are:
Pedestrian crossings
- The existing junction at High Street and Browells Lane has been updated to provide push button pedestrian crossing facilities on each arm of the junction
- A new push button pedestrian crossing has replaced the existing zebra crossing in High Street
- A new toucan (pedestrian and cycle) crossing close to the junction of High Street and Bedfont Lane.
Victoria Road
- A one-way system in Victoria Road, meaning that vehicles now exit onto High Street and enter from Air Park Way
- Widened footways in Victoria Road and Mono Lane
- New parking bays
Parking
- New disabled parking in Victoria Road
- “Pay by phone” parking in High Street
Street environment
- Repaved footways, resurfaced carriageways and new street lighting throughout the town centre
- New cycle parking, benches and trees and the removal of unnecessary street furniture
- Larger bus shelter at the northern end of High Street
- Improvements to the area around the war memorial at Feltham pond.
Bus and cycle lanes
- Lengthening of bus lanes and the inclusion of cycle lanes on both sides of High Street between the railway station and Browells Lane
The improvements in Bedfont Lane/ New Road to the north of the railway are:
Pedestrian crossing
- A new parallel zebra and cycle crossing adjacent to the new shared pedestrian and cycle bridge in Bedfont Lane
Parking
- New short stay parking in Bedfont Lane for the shopping parade between Sandycombe Road and Sydney Road
Street environment
- Repaved footways, resurfaced carriageways and new street lighting
- New cycle parking, benches and trees and the removal of unnecessary street furniture
- New amenity area near the new shared pedestrian and cycle bridge.
