Heston and Cranford CLS
Six schemes have been identified by local residents in Heston and Cranford as areas for improvement.
Within this area, we have developed proposals for two schemes, located on North Hyde Lane and New Heston Road.
North Hyde Lane, Hounslow,
The North Hyde Lane CLS scheme is set to improve the pedestrian safety along North Hyde Lane. The proposed crossing is to be installed at a prime location between The De Lacey Day Nursery School and Norwood Green Junior School. The crossing will be constructed at a location with an existing pedestrian island. The proposed works include:
- A new raised zebra crossing, positioned between The De Lacey Day Nursery School and Norwood Green Junior School
- Existing pedestrian island to be widened and maintained for additional safety
- Junction of Rostrevor Gardens will be narrowed to reduce the crossing distance and improve pedestrian safety
- Proposed installation of antiskid on approaches to the crossing improving pedestrian safety
The works are set to commence end of October and to complete in November 2023.
New Heston Road, Heston
Bus stop accessibility improvements at the bus stop outside 127 New Heston Road are due to commence in November 2023.
The works will include:
- Extending the bus platform area to improve boarding and alighting for the 111 bus service
- Crossover reprofiling and construction to clearly delineate between the bus platform and access to off street parking and to improve visibility
- Footway and kerb improvements
- New brass studs to be installed to delineate private and public land
- Install new high-quality bin for general waste and recycling
Springwell Road – Proposed 3.5T weight restriction
The council has received complaints from local residents of HGV’s diverting from Springwell Road near the width restrictions close to the Browning Way / Springwell Road junction onto local residential roads, i.e. Clairvale Road, Almorah Road.
The four other schemes in this area include a HGV reduction scheme in the Almorah Road area, a new pedestrian crossing on Vicarage Farm Road by Springwell School, a HGV review in Cranford High Street and further local safety improvements along North Hyde Lane.
