St Pauls Community Playground Project 2021
Playgrounds are a great way for children and adults to get active together in their local park.
CIL funding achieved by the Friends of St Paul’s Recreation Ground has already helped to improve the play area. A community led survey along with designs provided by pupils from year 6 at St Pauls School, helped to identify and deliver much needed improvements to the playground including; a trim trail, rope swing, roundabout, scooter trail, wide slide, log steps and mound, trampolines, play frame and play line markings. Additional surfacing, benches, bins and picnic tables have also been added.
An additional funding bid submitted by the project team was successful. The funding improved the MUGA (Ball Court area), and was the focus of the next stage of playground improvement works that took place in spring 2022.
Groundwork London was procured to work with local residents, Friends of St Pauls, and the Council to deliver the improved MUGA suggested by the community survey. The design included; improved fencing, goals and backboards for football and basketball, improved access and space, additional seating and overall greening of the space.
