Active spaces 2018
The Active Spaces project was created to encourage children and their families to be more active, promoting usage, community involvement and participation.
Four newly refurbished playground sites were opened to residents in May 2018. The project included major refurbishment of new active spaces at
- St Dunstan's
- Hawthorn Hatch
- Carville Hall North
- Redlees Park
Experienced play designers led 12 design engagements to share designs and sketch ideas with the local community. Events were fun and informative with games and activities for children alongside healthy eating and physical activity advice for families provided by Hounslow's health and wellbeing service, OneYou Hounslow. The project has also engaged local school children through interactive workshops and a fun design competition.
Additional funding for fitness trails and playground improvements was provided by CIL and the London Marathon Trust who funded a new fitness trail in Inwood Park. Community engagement with residents and stakeholders took place with the view to finding out what would improve the existing space. A questionnaire was available for residents and stakeholders to complete with further onsite engagement activities planned to share ideas and gather views from the local community.
Refurbishment of the play areas at Thornbury Park , South Road Rec, Southville (Cage Park) was completed.
New fitness trails was installed at Inwood Park and Bedfont Lakes.
