Tips for keeping safe and symptoms of spiking
It can be difficult to tell if your drink has been spiked by taste or smell alone, as the substances used can be colourless and odourless. It is therefore important to know the symptoms of spiking, so you can act fast and stay safe.
Symptoms include:
- Chattering teeth
- Getting uncontrollably hot
- Feeling shaky or drowsy
- Confusion
- Nausea or vomiting
- Hallucinations and paranoia
- Disorientation or poor coordination
- Loss of ability to communicate properly
- Unconsciousness
To ensure your drink is not spiked, you should always keep sight of it, do not accept drinks from people you don't know, and be wary of people reaching over your drinks.
If you suspect your drink has been tampered with, throw it away and report it to the venue and police.
