A traditional grave is a grave space where it is possible to have a traditional, kerbed memorial covering the grave. These graves are offered for those who want greater choice over the design of the memorial, or do not want people to walk over the grave. The entire grave can be surround by kerbs with a memorial stone place at the head of the grave. The grave area can be either planted out with suitable plants or covered. Trees and large shrubs are not permitted. Maintenance of the memorial and grave space is the responsibility of the grave owner.
Once a full coffin interment has occurred, the ground will need time to settle, so it is recommended that a period of minimum period of 10 months elapses before arranging a memorial to be placed. The time allows for the grave to settle into the ground naturally and helps to make a memorial more stable and secure.
Traditional graves can accommodate up to four full coffin burials. If no further full burials are required, the grave owner may request the burial of up to eight sets of cremated remains in the grave space.
