12 Days of Trading Standards' Christmas with 2 faulty kettles

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (CRA 2015) all products purchased from a trader must be:

  • of satisfactory quality
  • fit for purpose
  • match any description given.

If it isn’t, you are entitled to one of the following remedies:

  • a repair
  • a replacement
  • your money back (a refund)
  • partial refund

The CRA 2015 also introduces a specific timeframe in which you can reject a faulty item and get a full refund, now 30 days.

Always examine gifts as soon as you can and take any defective goods back immediately. The sooner you take them back the more rights you have.
