A Hounslow Council team which works with residents with learning disabilities has paid tribute to all the great work that has taken place this year with a special awards ceremony.
The Community Provisions service supports people in the borough with learning disabilities and autism by providing a range of services aimed at connecting them to activities that can help them overcome the barriers they face.
The free service provides people with opportunities to socialise, learn travel training skills, identify pathways that enable them to flourish and access meaningful employment opportunities.
What makes Community Provisions special is the person-centred approach and diligence that each member of staff undertakes when supporting local residents from the neurodiverse community and residents with a learning disability.
Everyone involved with the service recently got together to celebrate individual achievements over the past year. The special ceremony was attended by Mayor of Hounslow, Councillor Afzaal Kiani.
Cllr Kiani, who presented the awards, said: “I met very supportive staff and talented participants who won awards in various categories. Congratulations to them all.”
Residents who use the service have achieved so much over the past year. They have become independent travellers, retained paid employment, developed new relationships and enjoyed being involved in London’s community access schemes such as Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace and London Zoo.
Over the next year the service will be focusing on increasing the number of people it supports to achieve their goals and to live an even fuller life. If you would like to be part of this amazing service click here.
