Primary and Secondary schools in Hounslow are now accepting applications from families with children starting primary school (reception) or transferring to secondary school (year 7) in September 2024.
Published: Thursday, 7th September 2023
Families must submit the applications for primary and secondary schools using the online EAdmissions form. They can choose six schools for both primary and secondary. With the online application, families can take their time to explore the range of options available. However, to avoid disappointment, it is vital to complete the application by the deadlines.
The closing date for secondary school (Year 7) admissions is Tuesday, 31 October 2023. Children in Hounslow who are currently in Year 6 and were born between 1 September 2012 and 31 August 2013, will need to apply for a secondary school for September 2024.
The deadline for applying to primary and junior schools is Monday, 15 January 2024. Children who were born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020, will need to apply for a primary school (reception class). If children are in Year 2 in an infant school and born between 1 September 2016 and 31 October 2017, they will need to apply for Year 3 place in a junior school.
School places are not allocated on a first come, first served basis. The admission criteria for each school vary so families are encouraged to read the Council’s school brochures – Primary and Junior Schools and Secondary Schools for more information.
Councillor Lily Bath, Cabinet Member for Education, Children, Skills and Employment, said:
“Every child in Hounslow is entitled to an excellent education which can transform lives and support our younger generation for a brighter future.
“I’m very pleased most of our schools in the borough are recognised by Ofsted as either ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ schools. Together with our dedicated and passionate teachers, schools in Hounslow have been working tirelessly to provide learning and enrichment opportunities for children, no matter their circumstances, to develop their full potential.
“Growing up in the borough and receiving education here has made me feel proud, shaping who I am and what I am doing now. No matter which school your child starts at next September, they will be given the best possible education to help them succeed in life.”
All late applications without a valid reason will only be considered after the allocation of all applications received on time. Late applications might delay a child getting a preferred school – even if the child already has a sibling there.
