Summer HAF in Hounslow

Funded by the Department for Education, the Hounslow Holiday Activities and Food programme (HAF) will take place between Monday, 29 July till Friday, 30 August.

Families with children aged between five and 16 – who are entitled to benefits related to free school meals - can attend 16 sessions across the borough and receive a free nutritious meal every day they attend.

Activities include sports, games, cooking, computing coding, music, arts and crafts, high ropes and even trips to the famous Hobbledown Heath in Feltham.

Councillor Samia Chaudhary, Cabinet Member for Education, Children, Skills and Employment at Hounslow Council, said:

“With more than 2,000 children taking part last year and 99% of parents reporting their child was more active due to the project, our HAF programme has proven to be a roaring success.

“Not only do children become active, many children and young people also have the opportunity to make new friends, socialise in a safe environment and eat healthy meals during the holidays. I would recommend booking as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.”

Feedback from parents also stated that 95% of them saying that attending the HAF activities improved their child’s mental health and 77% of children said they ate more healthily, while 90% said that they made new friends.

On Wednesday, 24 July, families can join a free online drop-in hosted by the Council’s HAF Team. During the session, they can ask questions about how to book HAF activities, the eligibility criteria and activities on offer this summer or share feedback with the team.

Parents can book activities using their e-vouchers from school. For further enquiries please contact the team at HAF@hounslow.gov.uk
