The Mayor of Hounslow, Councillor Smith, alongside Seema Malhotra, Member of Parliament for Feltham and Heston and the Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Home Office), officially unveiled the mural on Friday 12 July 2024 with the mural behind them.

The Mosaic was installed by Hounslow Highways on Friday, 12 July and was created by Mural Mosaic, which unites artists from Hounslow and the world together in one powerful collaborative art project.

Feltham was selected to host the national mural for England, which has almost 1,300 tiles painted by people and groups connected to England. The application to host the England mural was submitted by Feltham Station Adoption Group, working with Feltham Community Development Association, and with the support of Hounslow Council and South West Railway. Community group members then liaised with Mural Mosaic and organised the distribution of 100 painting kits to Feltham communities including schools, residents associations, scout and guide groups and voluntary organisations. The painted tiles include a range of different local landmarks, as well as other artwork reflecting local creativity and interests. The 100 painting kits, production of the mural and installation were sponsored by Hounslow Council.

This installation is the latest milestone in Feltham Town Centre Regeneration, which aims to transform Feltham into a beautiful and more aspirational destination that celebrates its history, enhanced with more varied shops, and community and leisure facilities. Other regeneration projects include the Feltham Green Masterplan, Freddie Mercury Memorial Garden Feltham Green Mosaics, Bridge House Pond Mosaics and the Feltham Green Cabin.

Councillor Tom Bruce, Deputy Leader of Hounslow Council and Cabinet Member for Assets, Regeneration and Development, said: I am thrilled to see the installation of the England Connects National Mural, with so many people collaborating locally, across the country and the world – it stands as a stunning example of what can be achieved when communities come together.

“We have sponsored this mural as part of our continued Feltham Regeneration, which, alongside developments such as the creation of Feltham Green Cabin finishing in Autumn of this year, aims to transform Feltham into a flourishing destination which celebrates its history.”
