Residents and visitors are invited to take part in a range of storytelling events and activities for all ages this summer. Run in partnership with artists and venues across the borough -  including Chiswick Flower Market and Hounslow’s libraries and historic houses -  the festival is one of the highlights of the Council’s Summer of Culture programme. The festival encompasses a diversity of storytelling from across parts of the world including Japan, Ireland and Sierra Leone.

With the key events happening between August and September, some of the events will take place in iconic venues such as Boston Manor House and Gunnersbury Park Museum.

Some of the highlights include:

  • The Poetry Takeaway at Chiswick Flower Market, which includes a personalised poem from our local poets.
  • The Bureau of Forgotten Stories at Boston Manor House; a family-friendly show that brings to life the history of the house.
  • “Fruit”, which follows the experiences of different people from across the world as they share their stories on Bell Square.
  • Japanese storytelling with The Monkey and The Crab at Gunnersbury Park Museum.
  • London Dreamtime Storytelling Day at Feltham’s High Street, which invites residents to share their dreams into a borough-wide poem that will be shared on YouTube.

Councillor Salman Shaheen, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Public Spaces at Hounslow Council, said:

“Whether you’re stuck with something to do with your children over the summer holidays or you would like to soak up some local culture, our storytelling festival has something for everyone.

“This Festival epitomises everything that is great about Hounslow: it celebrates our diversity, our community spirit and our commitment to residents being actively in our cultural activities.”

“With most of the activities free or low cost, don’t miss out on these exciting events.”
