Hounslow Council is launching an exciting new tuition service for young people in Hounslow.

The provision will ensure all children and young people in the borough have access to high-quality education.
Coined LEAD (Learn, Enrich and Develop), the service will provide pupils with high quality short-term tutoring to support their pupils’ continued attendance and participation in education, where it is agreed attending a school or provision may not be suitable at that time. In most cases, access will be through their existing school, via the EHC team or other suitable education support services.
The service will be rolled out in stages to ensure efficiency, initially to meet the needs of students who are educated other than at school (EOTAS). Other priority children within the Council’s responsibility will follow before a wider model of supporting schools is adopted.
The Council will work with services and families to provide a service that prioritises personal growth and skills development so every student will be empowered to achieve their full potential.
LEAD will be available for pupils requiring interim support through direct school referrals, those with Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCPs), those going through the Education Health and Care Needs Assessment (EHCNA’s), and children new to the UK with complex medical and learning needs.
Following individual assessments involving their parents/carers, provision will be based on previous barriers the child has experienced, so specific interventions and targets can be developed.
Each pupil will be offered the core subjects, based on either the national or sensory curriculum, to support students continued learning journey and readiness for reintegration into an education provision.
In line with each student’s needs, education will be tailored and provided online, one-one, or as a group learning package within local communities.
Councillor Samia Chaudhary, Cabinet Member for Education, Children, Skills, and Employment at Hounslow Council, said: “As we look forward to the new academic year, I’m particularly excited about this programme. It’s an innovative partnership between the local authority and education providers that looks to ensure our young people receive an education that broadens minds and bolsters career prospects.”
