Waste Wizard is an online tool and phone app that can help make recycling your unwanted items quicker and easier.

Users won’t need a magic wand to use Waste Wizard because it’s completely free and user-friendly.
All residents have to do is visit the Council’s website to find the online tool or go to the Apple or Google Play app stores to download the app - search for LB Hounslow Waste Wizard.
Developed by waste and recycling technology company Routeware, Waste Wizard has been designed to be easy to use.
Anyone using the Waste Wizard just has to enter the name of the item they want to dispose of, mattress, batteries, paint for example and Waste Wizard will give the answer.
The tool contains detailed information on hundreds of items with predictive search and synonym detection, which makes it faster and easier for residents to find the right information.
It will also make it quicker and easier for the Council’s Waste and Recycling Team to maintain up-to-date information on how best to reuse and recycle items. Waste Wizard will provide detailed data to help increase the effectiveness of recycling education and communications.
The Waste Wizard tool is part of Hounslow Council’s ongoing commitment to improving waste management, reducing non-recyclable waste, and increasing recycling rates across the borough.
It can also help to reduce waste contamination.
With the borough’s increasing focus on sustainability, Waste Wizard is designed to empower residents to put the environment first when making decisions about waste disposal.
Cllr Shivraj Grewal, Hounslow Council’s Cabinet Member for Infrastructure, Recycling and Transformation, said: “We know that people in our borough want to recycle more, but it’s not always easy to understand what goes where. Waste Wizard takes the guesswork out and allows people to unleash their recycling magic.
“If you have any items you would like to dispose of please give Waste Wizard a try. You will be helping us to create a cleaner, healthier and greener Hounslow. Now that is magic.”
