Residents and visitors are invited to celebrate the Council’s final Summer of Culture event on Saturday 27 September in Bell Square. The event includes the street band The Orchestre International du Vetex offering a wildly entertaining brass band with musicians from Belgium, France and the Balkans. The band creates its own musical universe, combining Latin inspired Balkan music with Tarantella, Polka and Cumbia.
Starting at 8pm, the event is free and there is no need to book – just turn up and soak up the atmosphere during the internationally-themed entertainment.
Councillor Salman Shaheen, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Public Spaces at Hounslow Council, said:
“This event wraps up a fantastic summer – celebrating the very best of Hounslow’s arts, culture and heritage, which attracted combined audiences of 100,000 and is part of our ambition to embed arts into every corner of Hounslow.
“As we look ahead, we look forward to developing the Council’s new Culture Strategy that will help transform our borough into a cultural destination.”
This year’s Summer of Culture programme has hosted an array of about 100 events celebrating the very best of culture and creativity in Hounslow. Events have included a number of storytelling events; Tours and Trails; Films on the Green; Open House Festival and Brentford’s Creative Mile.
