Hounslow Council is inviting residents, businesses, commuters, and anyone who travels in or through the borough to take part in the second phase of consultation for its updated Transport Strategy.
Published: Monday, 4th November 2024
Over the summer, the Council gathered valuable insights from the public during the initial consultation, which has been used to shape the draft Transport Strategy. The Council has heard of the importance of the bus network, improving accessible travel, making the streets greener and much more.
The Strategy’s vision is for Hounslow’s transport network and public spaces to enable the development of a prosperous, healthy, accessible and safe environment for all, supporting a fairer and more equal borough.
To achieve the vision, the strategy has four ‘Strategic Moves’ which are the focus areas of the strategy. These are:
- Move 1: Improve the local environment and respond to the climate emergency.
- Move 2: Develop healthy places so people can live well.
- Move 3: Support a more equitable, inclusive and sustainable economy.
- Move 4: Enable safer and more accessible journeys.
The Council is now seeking feedback on this draft strategy to ensure it reflects local priorities.
Alongside the Transport Strategy, the Council is also seeking feedback on the draft Walking, Wheeling and Cycling Action Plans which detail specific actions the council is going to take.
Councillor Katherine Dunne, Cabinet Member for Climate, Environment and Transport Strategy, said:
“The feedback we received during the first phase of the consultation has been invaluable in shaping the strategy and action plans. We now want to hear from as many people as possible to ensure that our transport plans truly reflect the needs of everyone who lives and works in Hounslow. Your input will help us build a borough where travel is easier, safer, and more sustainable for all.”
The second phase of consultation is now open, and residents are encouraged to provide their views on both the draft Transport Strategy and the Walking, Wheeling and Cycling Action Plans.
