Oaklands School in Hounslow will host a ‘Pathways’ education and employment event on 14 November 2024 (4pm-7pm).
Published: Wednesday, 6th November 2024
The event is aimed at young people aged 13-25 with Education Health and Care Plans, attending a special or independent special school, and their parents or carers.
Attendees can access information and insight on the different options available for pupils, both in education and employment, to help navigate the journey into adulthood. Parents and pupils will be able to connect with Council services and organisations who will be showcasing offers and support ahead of annual reviews and phased transfers.
The event is staged in partnership with Oaklands School and West Thames College (WTC) and among the guests will be DFN Project SEARCH who have worked together with WTC and the Council, in supporting over 100 young people with SEN in Hounslow. More than 78 per cent of our Project SEARCH graduates have successfully moved into paid employment over the last decade.
Attendees will also be able to:
- Talk to Council services and partners about available support including the SEN team on the upcoming key stages and processes involved
- Meet graduates (and their parents) who have completed featured courses and internships
- Walk away with options to explore and discuss annual reviews ahead of the phase transfer
Cabinet Member for Education, Children, Skills, and Employment Councillor Samia Chaudhary commented: “This event echoes our collaborative approach that seeks to ensure our young people with SEN and their parents receive the necessary support at key stages of their education. By working together, we can realise limitless futures for these young people.”
