Hounslow online career event for unemployed young people

The online event will include support and advice for young people in the borough who are not in education, employment and training (NEET). Parents and carers and organisations supporting young people are also encouraged to attend.

Attendees will have access to:

  • Career opportunities, alternative pathways and training programmes.
  • Insights and information on business sectors and industries.
  • Job application tips and guidance.

The event will feature free, on-demand videos of support teams within the Council, such as Hounslow Connexions, Work Hounslow, DFN Project SEARCH and partner organisations and colleges, including West Thames College, West London College, West London Retail Skills Hub and many more.

These videos will be available on Hounslow Council’s YouTube channel from 4.30pm on the event day. The recorded videos will remain accessible for six months as a resource for young people, parents, carers and professionals.

Dee Allanah, Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG)/Admissions Officer at West London Retail Skills Hub, said:

"We are pleased to participate in Hounslow Council’s event to showcase our support of young people in Hounslow.

"Working alongside partners and organisations, we aim to enhance young people’s employability, particularly those in need for support, as this is essential for their long-term wellbeing and success."

Councillor Samia Chaudhary, Cabinet Member for Education, Children, Skills and Employment, said:

"The virtual event aligns with our Youth Skills and Employment Guarantee (YSEG), a programme launched two years ago to remove barriers and improve access to skills and employment for young people.

"By working closely with partners and employers, we are expanding opportunities for young people in Hounslow who are seeking education, training and employment. We are committed to helping them unlock their potential and thrive in our local community."
