March is the ideal time to start planning for the spring planting ahead – from getting the flower beds ready and pruning roses to raking grass and removing leaves and weeds. Hounslow Council’s Garden Waste Collection Service helps to simplify garden maintenance by ensuring these gardening tasks are managed effortlessly with regular, hassle-free waste collections.

The service offers convenient fortnightly pick-ups, with up to 25 collections per year (with a two-week break over Christmas), allowing residents to focus on nurturing their gardens.

There are two subscription options:

  • £75 for a year, or £3 per collection (1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026)
  • £37.50 for half a year (29 September 2025 to 31 March 2026)

The Council has had to make the decision to increase the annual subscription by £10, or an increase of 40p per collection, to cover rising operational costs and ensure cost recovery for the service.

Councillor Shivraj Grewal, lead member for Infrastructure, Recycling and Transformation, said:

“Our paid-for garden waste collection service is designed to support residents with front and back gardens, or frequent leaf fall, to keep their gardens tidy and well-maintained throughout the year. With our kerbside collections, residents can focus on their gardening tasks without worrying about what to do with their garden waste. And the good news doesn’t end there as every collection is recycled to create compost.”

Residents can sign up at https://beta.hounslow.gov.uk/recycling-rubbish/garden-waste-subscription.

Residents already subscribed will receive reminder letters or emails with instructions on how to renew.

Garden waste can also be recycled and turned into compost at home or taken to the Reuse and Recycling Centre at Space Waye.
