I find these events very helpful, as I enjoy the classes and see the results soon after these sessions, as I find myself more alert and active. I also find the exercises easy to replicate at home, which really helps.
Local resident Mitta, said:
Otago exercise has helped me improve my muscle strength, balance, and posture. It is helping me with my chronic health conditions, and it’s also helped improve my mental wellbeing.
The strengthening exercises, the balance exercises, and walking exercises are helping me not to fall.I have made lots of new friends of various ages. It’s a lovely session, and it’s great to see everyone enjoying and engaging in all the exercises.
Stay Steady and Active has been developed by the Hounslow Borough Based Partnership to help increase activity levels, test balance abilities, and reduce the risks of falls for residents aged 60 plus.
The joint initiative between the council and NHS provides free exercise classes, access to a strength and balance programme, signposting to a range of activities for the over 60’s, plus a Staying Steady test that residents can complete at home to understand if they require additional clinical support.
